Mirroring bone structure problems

Hi guys, can anyone advice me on how to mirror a bone chain that is attached to a mesh with skin?

Im having trouble trying to mirror this mesh as it gets all over the place when i try to do so.

HERE IS THE FILE

Can you check this file and maybe tell me how to achieve it?

Hi there,

didn’t check the file, but I see it’s a max file. I’m guessing that you are trying to mirror arm or leg bones or something like that.

Instead of using “Mirror” from toolbar, use Animation (menu) / Bone Tool -> Mirror. Note that “Reference Coordinate System” matters, it will give you the center plane of mirroring. You can pick axis and which axis to flip on other side. Then it is just a matter of adding new bones to skin.
