Mirror Skin Weights across separate models

Hello, I have a left hand and a right hand that I am rigging. They are separate models with separate skeletons (but both the model and the skeleton were mirrored).

I was wondering, is it possible, after I have finished doing all of the weights on the left hand, to somehow mirror and transfer all of the weights onto the right hand?

scale your skinned hand by -1 (or mirror it any way you want) so it matches the geometry of the other hand; select the skinned geo and the non skinned geo (but that has a default skin) and Skin>Edit Smooth Skin>Copy Skin Weights, choose Closest Point on Surface, Closest Joint and One to One as options. Maya’s copy skin weights works very well.

have both geometries bound to joints, then just select both meshes and perform “mirror skin weights” the same way you would do for a single mesh. no tricks required.
