Miranda [to Ver.2] ... (Nudity)

Thank you for your suggestion.
Her breast rig is like these.

It may be good to change the breast constraints from parent to point.
And for pectoralis, I have to move them down when the upperarm is down .
Besides the breast rig joints are aimed to breast controlers in very front of her chest.

But as you can see, her chest (not only clavicle) is rotating with walk cycle.
I think I have to take care about this point.

Do you have any good idea?
C&C are welcome!

In that last video the breast looks like a mass of watery goo under skin.

In reality, the main mass (the cup) of the breast moves as one mass, it doesn’t compress or deform unless pressure is applied to it, the upper area will stretch but that’s it.

I’m going to suggest getting some footage of a woman walking to see what’s really happening, barring that it’s not hard to find footage of how breasts move when the body is moving…

Thank you for your comment.

> one mass volume

Yeah, you’re right.
I forced to use muscle object for breast, but it is almost the fat in real. So I have to delete muscle effect from there. I must be careful about it.

> some footage

Thanks a lot.
I can’t find good exapmles.

I have to fix mistake in the previous explanation.
The “Breast joints” are parent-constrained to the pectoralis by MAYA Muscle attach node.

Personally, I think breasts are too complex to accurately simulate with the current tools. They are essentially a ball of jelly that slides along and collides with the rib cage, while being pulled up or down by the pectoral muscles.

A more practical solution would be to use FK or spline-IK for the primary breast motion, and to have some way of sculpting the mesh on a per-pose basis. It may take more work, but it gets good results.

Anyway, I would definitely replace the parent constraint with a point constraint. The breast should only recieve any rotation from its FK control, and the chest.

Okay.
I’ll try to do your suggestion.
See you later.

#406

Hey you guys.
How about this?

C&C are welcome!

#407

Your rig is really constantly improving and the volumes and deformations are looking pretty natural now.

If you find a way to make the breasts keep their initial shape a little more, it would look more realistic i think.

#408

It looks much better, though it looks like they rotate up and down a little too much. But I can’t tell if that rotation of from the chest motion, or if it’s from the muscle object’s stretching. Still, it’s definitely improved!

#409

Thnx guys.

> Xion-Cajou
> initial shape

I don’t know whether it’s able or not for her breast, I’ll try to add Smart Collision feature for there tommorow. Then it will be able to maintain their volumes.

> Lomax

Obviously the breast cage is rotating since I want there to be rotated in a walk cycle. And whole breast cage is almost static. So the main factor of rotating breast seems to be rotating the breast cage.

However the critical reason for her breast motion might be the motion of breast rig controlers, that is IK driven. Since I can get stable result by setting “counter” keyframes to them, it seems to be the cause. And either parent- or point-constraint might be not critical for her breast rig.

Anyway, this is a departed ship.
I’ll let the ship reach to a satisfied port, that is goal for her breast rig.

Additional C&C are very welcome!

Hello All.

I add some Blendshape targets to her breasts to maintain those volumes, but I can’t be satisfied from this result. Tommorow, I’ll try another method for breast rig.

Hello Koji!

Look, you are going to find the solution to this breast rig, no doubt. I have seldom seen such level of patience in a project before. You are progressing, but the hardest part is that last 10% of reality.

As a fellow 3d modeler, I know how you end up looking at the things you model in real life… I bet you have to be very disceet about that…lol!

Keep it up!

Regards
Giom

Let me be very clear about this. I am very impressed with this work, the rigging, deformations, soft body dynamics, skinning, are all things I am many months away from even beginning to try and I am very grateful the process is being shared here.

So…

The head and face. Some of the most useful reference comes from Andrew Loomis.

Thnx mate!
I have the last assignments for her to complete, which are less than 20!!
The goal is really near but it will be the hardest days than ever.
I’ll do it!!

> BDismukes

Thank you for your posting some common references about head & face.
I’ll try more feminine facial expressions later after I’d fixed all problems for face.

The breasts are getting better, but they’re still losing volume and shape too much. Try this, imagine that there is a ball under the skin it takes it’s facing direction from the ribcage. First try and get the basic lateral and vertical motion.

In regard to the jiggle: again, imagine a ball, if the bottom of the ball moves up, then the top must move up. Each breasts main volume deforms pretty uniformly (except under very specific circumstances (eg, force applied directly to the surface, eg, a hand).

#415

F**k me.

You don’t do things by halves, do you?

#416

> GrogMcGee

How about this?
I set the balls inside breast, which is MAYA Muscle Object (Bone) for sliding effect inside skin. I replaced the rig drastically.

Movie: Anim-Test-10A-Slide-w-Sc.mov
Movie: Anim-Test-10B-Slide-w-Sc.mov

(EDIT: )
For this new breast rig, I’ll be able to maintain its volume more & easier.
Therefore, the next focus is amount of jiggle effect. I can remove it at all, but I don’t want to do that.

> aleph-zahir

What do you mean? (huhuhu…)

For texturing, hair styling, dress designing or else is after release of her as muscle rig.
So there’s no problem.

#417

I think there might be to much forward motion (the breast moving further away from the rib cage) - skin isn’t really that stretchy. The horizontal and vertical motion looks pretty good!

#418

> GrogMcGee

OK.
I’ll decrease the jiggle effect towards front.
See you later.

#419

Hi there!

I’ve been struggling with her.
As I said previously, I’ve decreased the jiggle values for breast.
But on the contrary, too much stiff? :hmm:

Hello!

There’s no responce but I have to go into the last spurt for her muscle rig.
Maybe the breast rig issue is too much difficult, so I suspend it to the very last.
Today, I’ve already fixed some defects, and I want to release alpha version till the ending of this month. I think it is possible to finish in near future.
C&C are welcome!
