#341

Thank you Pjanssen that worked out really great. Well I will be following this project and I really hope it is going to be great.
thanks again

So finally i found some time to continue.
I hope it now fits better into the Minas Tirith style.
I haven’t yet added any windows to the sides of the building that aren’t visible on the picture and the building still looks…well a bit “empty”, but i just thought i’ll show what i have so far.
Currently it has around 6000 faces/polys…hope thats still okay

Is it okay so far? Are there any errors that i haven't seen yet?
    Or any other suggestions?

by the way: this project was mentioned 2 days ago on TORN (theonering.net)

and finally the new trailer for the ROTK extended edition reveals another view of Minas Tirith that’s not to be seen in the threatrical cut (please don’t eat me if i’m wrong… can’t remember all of the estimated 300.000 frames of the movie by heart ;))

Did this project just die or what?

I would like to have an daily report on the project.
That will also serve to keep the members in high spirit.

#344

What is amount of vertices you all use for your pillars?

Current WIP

Stijn

#345

Are you are asking about my pillars?
My pillars are eight sided (octagon?) WITHOUT smoothing or smoothing groups.

8 sides x 2 faces… But then there are some additional decorations near the bottom 16x2, and top 16x2, thus some 80 faces.

If u want round and smooth pillars 16 sides (12 for small ones and 24 for large) should be more than enough, if u are using smoothing groups.

/Shoglic.

#346

@shoglic: why don’t you use smoothing groups for your pillars then?

#347

Because I don´t want em to be smooth… I want them to be 8-sided and faceted.

I guess you could manually set the smoothing so it does not smooth them, or like me, just remove it.

Some bad news, I’ve been testing the new viewer yesterday and it looks really cool, but there are a lot of mesherrors in the models… I tried to fix them yesterday, but I just couldn’t do that all in a short time.
So, because I’m going to Paris for five days, the release of the viewer will be delayed another week. But I can assure you that it will be really neat when it’s done

by the way, I would like to see a lot of WIPs of all the people who joined recently when I get back :stuck_out_tongue:

#349

Ok. I fixed the stuff we talked about (I think)

3-rf-15

here’s the door you can’t see very well cause of the shadow. It seems out of place to me, because there isn’t a visible door anywhere in the reference. However, it seems that this would be the most logical place, because the back is against a rock, and the two sides are stone supports. And the base of the building just goes down into the blackness (it is a fake city afterall) So if anyone has any recommendations of where a better place would be to put it, please do tell. Also, I’ll make a frame for the door if need be.

#350

I thought no one is doing this building, so here’s my input since being a long time away.
not finished totally

#351

kjwjansen: the floors don’t match up! If there is a second floor, it would end in the middle of a window. And it looks as is there is a second floor because of the balcony on the right side of the building. Just my opinion. Also: the door is really small. And if someone was to walk into it, they wouldn’t be able to see through the windows because they are too high.

#352

Pier is away for a week, but i couldn’t resist posting a teaser of the upcoming viewer, with a few textures.

#353

@ysaneya: this is looking really good. I’m very interesting in the new viewer.
@moogoo: Here an update. the windows are now under the second floor. I guess this is looking more logical.

#354

@Ysaneya: That’s looking real good! I was wondering if that background is just a picture or an actual mesh.
@kjwjansen: Nice work! Its good to see that you have started working on this project again.

#355

Whoa! Awesome work, i really want do at least one building… but the team are complete… :frowning: ¿Aren´t?

#356

Update: I’m not pretty sure or i am total right whith the codes, but here’s in my opinion 3-lb05 and the building on the right: there isn’t anny code for, it is standing between 3-lb-04 and 3-lb-05. C&C are welcome

#357

Thanks alot. I been following this thread for some while and can’t wait to se the final output.
Give me some more

Btw Hell of job all you guys are doin, keep of the good work

#358

At last, all major parts of my building are completed.

6400 unified faces in one solid mesh.
(It is going to be a pain in the @ss to texture this)
