Awesome! I’m working on the building now. But, the building doesn’t seem to have good references. I’ve got two pictures of it. But they’re all from a distance. :frowning:

I’m getting a little confused with my reference images.
Maybe someone can give me an opinion on this.
Are these really the same buildings? did i confuse something? if not, which one should i use for reference?

It isn’t so strange… I suppose the one on the right is from the movie.
There could be different revisions of the model…and the one on the left isn’t the one that made it into the movie probably.

Or, in the movie some structures have been modified in CG and composited.
Often, things get modified in CG even though there’s nothing wrong in a sculpture or on a real place…just director’s “final and late word”… :wink:

@MadPayne: This is indeed very confusing. When I made the map I came across more things like this. It seems to me that the large scale miniature and the small scale miniature differ, since the differences are most of the time visible when you compare a wideshot (small scale miniature) with a detail (large scale miniature). Personally, I prefer to use the models of the picture on the left, but it’s just what suits me (and in this case you) best.

The unreal engine is not powerful enough to run this kind of model in real time.

Apart from the fact that you’re all out of your minds, which is not a bad thing, I’d like to say that this is a huge, and very wicked project.

If you guys really pull this off, you might reach some newspapers I think. (Just a small article, but still.)

so, do you need any more modellers at all? i want to make a building. i don’t care which. i’ve been 3d modelling for about 5 years now, and i think i could model one of those buildings pretty easily. if you need any more modellers, please let me know, thanks!

I want to join this awesome project! I’ve been looking for a cool project to do after work (low-poly game modeling day job) and this sounds so exciting! I know XSI 4, Maya 5, and Max 6, and I think I’ll use XSI and convert it when it’s done. Please assign me a ramdon building and I’ll go find the reference myself.

Cool, I’ll have to bookmark this thread. I saw this when you guys first started, but I had no idea it has come this far. Congrats.

wow, quite the massive project, thought how do you manage to texture all of this? UV mapp it all? or do you have a totally kick ass shader/s

Hey. Here is 3-rf-15. Tell me if you think it needs anything else. I tried to keep the polys down cause I know its a big project. But if you want more detail anywhere, just say so. I also tried to match one of the renders to the shot from this pic. (The second image) It looks alright I guess.

I’m a bit confused, i was supposed to do 4-rf-04 and in the second list, you said 3-rf-01. So, i guess i’ll do 3-rf-01 first, and then 4-rf-04. If that’s alright with you?

It’s written that my building is 4-rf-03, but I don’t see it in the reference image , while I see 4-rf-06 standing there and not assigned to anyone, besides… look at the arrangement of the tasks :

That’s why I think mine should be 4-rf-06, so it goes like 6,7,8.

Hi, been using lightwave for years, i can model any statue? i really want to join in such a big project, ony for the fun to do it ^^.
