Metropolis Environment - Ian Jun Wei Chiew

#1

Hey guys, I have not posted in a while, but this is what I have been working recently. The masks represents past leaders/rulers in an industrial/post-apocalyptic city. Got inspiration from Mount Rushmore and Konoha.
Any suggestions and critiques would be great!

Thanks!

This looks pretty good. It’s a unique premise–totally unexpected, since usually we’d expect to see actual faces of the heroes being memorialized.

What are those orange streaks of lines at the bottom?

Thanks a lot! I thought the orange would be sort of like the hot machine and that kind of glowing metal factory, I don’t know, just to add some saturated colors haha.

It looks kind of arbitrary and illogical. If a viewer has to ask what something is, that means you didn’t execute the element with enough clarity. Readability is extremely important, as is consistency. The rest of the image doesn’t have that type of random/abstract looking brushwork, so those orange streaks stick out a bit.
