Mental Ray Layered texture Normal maps issue

Hello,

Is there a way to use the layered texture with normal maps? This is using multiple uv patches in a mari workflow, which works great for diffuse; however, when I use the same method with normal maps it renders fine in the viewport (viewport 2.0), but not in Mental Ray. I’ve tried a bump map daisy chain, unchecking and checking every box in the layer texture node and switching things around in the normal map file nodes.

The normal maps render fine in Mental Ray plugged in one at a time. The layered texture is going from (outalpha—>bumpvalue).
