Hi there,
I’m trying to set up contour rendering to create a wireframe turnaround for a character model.
I’m using mental ray contour rendering, which seems relatively simple and effective as a solution for rendering a wireframe.
I understand it to be a simple 3 or 4 step process depending on the version of maya you’re using (I’m on 2014).
- Turn on Contour rendering in the shader group of the desired material.
- Turn on contour rendering in mental ray’s features tab.
- Tick “Around all poly faces” in the “Draw by property difference” sub tab.
- For maya 2014, go to Mental ray’s quality tab and change the sampling mode to “Legacy Sampling mode”.
Having followed these steps, the mesh for the eyes of my character are displaying their contours just fine, but the mesh of the body only shows up an outline around the mesh.
So far I’ve considered whether its something to do with the face normals of the mesh, but nothing looks out of place to me.
I’m kind of stumped for ideas here, does this ring a bell for anyone? Has anyone had this kind of problem before?
Many thanks,
