mental mill inputs only working in the viewport

I’m testing out mental mill. I made a simple phenomenon that’s just outputs a brick generator directly to the result. When I load it in max it works fine. But when I try to wire some inputs to the color and height of the bricks, changes I make in max work only in the viewport, not when rendered and not in the material editor preview.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there something I need to do to the inputs so they work in software rendering too?

In case anyone finds this. It was a problem with caching in max mental ray. If you load a phenomenon into max and then add an input, max doesn’t realize you’ve made the change until you restart or rename the phenomenon (not the .xmsl, but the name of the class).
