MD3 in 3DSmax6?

#1

Hello everbody. I am currently thinking about a project where i want to let quake 3 arena models move in certain ways (for a movie scene). i searched a lot the last days but there was no hint how to get this done. I thought of import them into 3DSmax (since it is the tool I’m currently learning), animate them (have to figure out how though…) and render it. Therefore I would like to know if someone knew a md3 import/export plugin for 3DSmax6. Any help or ideas are also very welcomed.

thank you

I would give the Gmax Tempest Gamepack a look at, & Chris Cookson’s MD3 exporter. It may work with 3DsMax 6, however I havent tried.

I would go to Turbo Squid ( thats where the Gmax Support Forums have moved too ) and ask around in the Gmax discussion boards.

hi there.
thx for your info. this weekend i finally found some time to do research regarding gmax and this plugin. i found http://mojo.gmaxsupport.com/index.html this has only an export plugin for 3dsmax6. though there is one script for importing md3 (a little downwards on the page) i have no clue neither how to install it nor for what software it is (could be gmax or 3dsmax in my opinion). as for gmax, it doesn’t support im-/export of md3 as far as i know. i installed the software http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax (gmax1.2) and the tempest addon for quake 3 but i’ve found nothing to import an object or model of quake3. maybe you know some more?

thank you for your help.

There’s a Tempest “dle” (plugin) in the Tempest plugins folder which is in the gamepaks folder. Cut n paste it to Gmax’s Plugin folder.

I’m sure you can import with plugin installed ( which it is while runnin Tempest ).

Otherwise I’m sure there must be a plugin for it somewhere. I’d look at polycount for something.

Has an importer, written again by Chris Cookson.

If your really having trouble perhaps you should try track him down ?
