(Maybe i'll get this right this time) System guidance please

#1

Hello everyone,

(Sorry you have to see another one of this threads but this will help big time)

I had a rough start on this forum because I made a big mistake of posting my thread numerous times. The threads some reason weren’t showing up when I submitted.

I’m new around here and I just need some guidance on where I should be heading system wise. I’ve customized systems all over with websites like IBUYPOWER and don’t know what is a good system game engine wise, Graphical wise etc…

I’m in the process of getting into animation fields, anything related programming and designing. In this case I want to set up my new system to run sweet and handle programs. Right now in the bank I have about $1,431 and I’m pretty sure I’m going to need to keep throwing money in the bank. Since I’m sure most of you around here own some great systems. I just need some guidance on to what I should look into buying. What I want to do on the system is; Modeling, Maya, Animation, Programming, anything that’ll get me a good start. I want to basically learn off this system, but the current system I have I’ve practiced Dark Basic, Maya, Dark Engine, and 3D World Studio all on here. Still this system isn’t very stable and as far as graphics it and ATI RAGE 128 FURY PRO AGP 4X TMDS card so…yea.

I was thinking about a system

Nvidia GEforce 7800GTX 256MB

SLI ready (Dual)

Dual video

AMD Athlon-64 X2 4200

1024 MB RAM

120 GB Hard Drives (2)

But since I’m not sure weather or not these basic parts are good enough. I’m asking for just a bit of help.

My budget would most likely be $1,600 but I could go over if that’s the case.

I’d greatly appreciate any feedback whatsoever. Good luck with all of your projects!

Sorry to be the one to tell you but you still posted your question in the wrong forum

There is a hardware/Technical forum for questions like this. That’s why your not getting any replies. Ask a mod to move the post for you into that fourm. Look for the help forum at the very bottom of the main cgtalk page.

Just take your time bro as this is a really big community with a lot of “specific” topics…choose your paths wisely.

Ok thank you,

Sorry i’m still getting used to this place. Good thing you told me and thanks again! I already made a bit of a mistake their and posted numerous post. I guess it took time for it to show up on that thread…but i was thinking that thread was the wrong place to post also. Just because no one ever responded to my posts. But thank you
