Maya: Vray Distributed Rendering Advice ?

#1

Greetings everyone.

I have 40 machines for the renderfarm using VRAY. My question is…Can 1 machine connect to 39 others for Vray DR ? or i have to seperate them ?
Example: IP 1 - IP 10…and then IP 11 - IP 20 and so on…?

Can VRAY handle a lot of machines for rendering like that? Thanks everyone.

i assume you like to render only on one frame…?
i did some testing with 10 machines and it worked fine… but the overhead is getting bigger and bigger…
loading the data from the network and bringing them back…
the render does take longer and longer to start…

for animation we dont use distributed at all…

Thanks for the reply. Actually i have rendering an animation scene. In range 0 - 500. Is there any other way to speed up farming or…a really other way for another renderfarm in Vray?

we use deadline for the farm… but any other rendermanager will do…

#5

the speed will still vary per comp i personal like having all the comps tackle each frame to speed up renders rather than one comp per frame, but thats me

what sort of network speeds you guys running where it slows down around 10 computers? 1Gb? 10Gb? 40Gb?
