with my Quadro fx 1800 im able to go up to 16x Msaa in Vieport 2.0 in Maya 2012.
My new Firepro v5900 (tried different drivers) offers only 8x Msaa in VP2-Prefs, which is a little bit anoying.
Is there any hint in the tech-specs of a graphics-card, that informs me about this Msaa-Ability before i buy it?
that’s a Maya limitation, not your card. You can request this be added but, unless you do a lot of rendering with viewport 2, this is only going to cost you FPS for needless extra filtering.

I sometimes use vp2 for rendering simple cut out animations. The Firepro Msaa-Workaround for me is to render it in a higher resolution and shrink it down in After Effects afterwards.
