Maya normal map baking problem

#1

Hi,
I have a problem with baking my normal maps in Maya with the transfer maps tool. (See image below)
The result looks good in Photoshop, but in Maya there are these strange lines.
It seems like every UV tile reacts differently to the light.

My approach:

  1. Importing the high and low poly model
  2. Create a UV
  3. Unfold the UV (Screenshoot with UVs below)
  4. Layout the UV5. Transfer the normal maps with the “transfer maps” tool (Screenshoot with settings below)

Do I miss anything or am I making a mistake?
Thanks for your help!
Niclas

Check your bump2d node and make sure it’s set to tangent space. Those look like the sort of artifacts you get if you apply a tangent space normal map in object space.

I checked my bump2d node and changed tangent space to bump - now it just works fine.
Thank you!
