Maya Mental ray Render passes problem

Hi all , I am trying to get renders in passes from MR in maya … the problem is when i create the passes like defuse, specular , reflection or other and i render it it saves in my project path but there its creating only folders of that passes and renders come out black :sad: … only i can see the whole combine passes render image in master layer folder… i try it with batch render also but having same problem renders come out in black … plz help me what should i do for geting it …

You have to use a shader that supports passes.

Hi Bitter i am using mia_material_x shader is it suporting for render passes ? actully all passes are rendering and saves in project path but only render shows in master layer folder and other passes are looking black … :frowning:

You want the mia_material_x_PASSES shader.

i am using the mia_material_x_passes but i am having the same problem on some of the render layers (i have seperate layers for each of the lights)…few of the layers are rendering correctly…its pretty weird though…also the AO pass comes out totally black…

In Maya 2009, I know that the AO pass isn’t supported for the _passes materials. There’s actually only a few passes that work. Not sure about newer versions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzuZMz0BPs0

AO has to be turned on in the render settings.

So it’s supported in the newer versions of Maya? If so that’s great news!

Ya i tried AO in 2011 its rendering in MR passes … you need to turn on raytracing and AO in features tab in render settings as Bitter said.
