Just wondering what sort of card to get, my main reason to upgrade is that I’d like to not to lag as much when rotating around a hefty scene.
I’ve been doing a bit of research, but I’ve read that OpenCL is the way to go?
I’ve been looking at a Gigabyte Radeon HD7970 GHz Edition 3GB
Can anyone back this up before I fork out the money?

If you read that OpenCL is the way to go, you haven’t read much, not in here at least 
There are several threads similar to yours just in the last few weeks, there are dozens in the last couple months. Just trawl back through those a bit.
