Maya Freezes Blendshapes

Okay…I’m happy with Modo, very happy, but something mysterious
happend I can’t believe:

So for a test I have created an object with several blenshapes (sorry…endomorphs),
in LightWave, saved the object…load it into Modo…all runs perfect.
Now exporting as a Maya ma. file. Loading into Maya, perfect…but nothing to see.
The object is there, with all it’s blenshapes integrated (only to see in wireframe, when
selected). But now when I go to the Hypershade window, select the surface which it had in
Lightwave (and Modo) and say apply to selected, the object is visible…but now the
blendshapes are gone. They are there, but with no effect…

What happend?

In fact of 99% of all errors are user errors, I think I#ve made a wrong step…
but which one.

Two things keep blend shapes from being visible. First, they have no shader attached, and second, they are set to hidden. You would need to turn off hidden AND attch a shader for them to show up in shaded mode.
