Maya Fluid Colision

#1

Hey All,

I’m working on a personal project with some friends and I have been asked to do some dynamics work.

here is a sample of the shot http://youtu.be/gqxzj2d235w

the desired look was to have the clouds be effected by the ship as it passes through as if the ship is pushing them aside.

My first thoughts were using a static fluid container but as far as I know there isn’t a way to get collisions with Geo (please prove me wrong as this would look the best). so I’m left with using an Particles set to the cloud type nParticles set to thick cloud.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what i could do here? I did think about using Houdini but that’s a whole lot of learning to do in not much time.

Thanks in advance,

Sam

Hi,

of course, you can make collisions with fluids. Just go to the fluids menu and have a look for MAKE COLLIDE. Just select the geo first.

Thanks for the reply stromberg,

Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to work for me however I have come up with a solution that achieves the effect I was after. If you have had success with this please attach a scene file with it working so I can double check all my settings.

i think just highlight the particles then the object then make collide…
