Maya duplicate with special is acting weird

Hi
im rather new to maya modling and ive discovered im having problems using the duplicate with special tool. when im using it to mirror my figure the border is always “weird”
the point where the two pieces are meeting are always looking rather weird. especially on round edges. like a person
