I am working on a game based on a movie my friend made “captain Blasto http://www.captainblasto.com” but i.ve ran into some trouble, i modeled the body sprites in maya, and exported them into the directx (.x) format as is required by darkbasic, but the problem is that when I load it in darkbasic hi-poly count objects won’t show up, only primitives:sad: can anyone help?
maya darkbasic help
Please don’t post threads like this in the General Discussions forum. I have moved it to the game dev forum for you instead.
This could be a number of things. I’d like to mention first though that I’m assuming the DarkBasic website probably has their own forums, and their probably better qualified to answer your question. But I have used DarkBasic before so I’ll try my best.
Check your surface properties, to see if their the way you want (within Maya), then check the size of the object. I know some Directx converters for 3d programs sometimes don’t follow the size correctly. Like you may have something as 10 m big but when converting/saving to X it might be 10 cm or even 10 km. So play around with saving in different sizes and see if it shows up.
It could also be that maybe your saving to a newer version of X then DarkBasic knows how to read. Either that, or quite simply you’ve reached the limit on poly count that DarkBasic can display…I don’t know, I was just guessing there.
I hope this helps.
