Maya 2018 - Text looking sharp in arnold, why? - Image attached

Hello guys

I wonder why text looks sharp after rendering with arnold, i bassicaly raised every sampling and ray depth to 10, and still getting sharp edges, is this a material problem? i´m using aistandardsurface

this is a final render after raising everything to 10 in arnold settings… actually it looks better in the viewport

Please help

I suppose you mean that the contrast of the surface and background is too high so it looks as if you’re getting sharp edges instead of soft antialiased ones, is that correct?

The very first thing you should check is if the alpha looks okay. If so, your lights are simply too bright. Usually for geometry anitaliasing 6 camera rays should be okay except for extremly fine geometry like hair or if you have motionblur.

I just started a new scene, created type, wrote some text, added an Arnold light and pressed render then… sharp edges

So i started changing all values in my render settings beliving it was an antialiasing problem, but raising everything to the top didn´t fixed my edges problem on text, not a contrast problem, just lines looking like saw, my scenes has to be white text over black background, i have seen this problem many times in Maya 2018, not just in text, but this saw sharp lines never appeared so obvius like with this text, the “E” looks terrible in renders.

Thanks anyway,

So your alpha channel is sharp as well?
Can you share this simple scene so we can check it?

yes i will, i´ll share the scene very soon,

i just dont remember the name of the site to upload, this forum has file sharing limits and i need to sleep right now, its almost 4:00 am in this country, it happens every time i start working at night in my projects, i just love 3D and animation…LOL, i guess none sleeping comes with the church.

Thanks man, i´ll reply soon
