Maya 2018 Skydome Issue

Hey guys, I’m currently doing a lighting/shading exercise with Arnold where i wanted to have the alpha of the car and noticed that if i were to render with the skydome having the Camera Visibility at 0 and 1 it would give a different result, shouldn’t it be the same?

The floor/grid is using the aishadowmatte.

From the Solid Angle website :
VisibilityCamera
By default, skydome lights are directly visible as a background. Lowering the influence of the light of camera rays makes them invisible to the camera, and makes the background transparent.

Hey thanks for the reply!

However, is there a way to make the sky dome visible for the object and not visible to to the camera?

Because i wanted to comp the car into a plate for example, is there a way to retain the sky dome viability for the car?

Technically, that’s what is supposed to happen - its should affect all objects in the scene but not be visible to the camera.
