Maya 2015 installed without mental ray on windows.

I got a student license and installed autodesk maya 2015 on my computer that runs windows and when the installation was complete maya told me that mental ray could not be installed. Naturally, to make sure I searched to find mental ray but could not find it. How can I install mental ray separately on maya 2015 windows.

There is a possible problem with the .mod file when you update causing mental ray to fail to load

If I were paranoid Id start wondering if this is a conspiracy to remove mentalray from Maya all together.

It’s quite the opposite, actually. mental ray for Maya is now a totally separate plugin. This was done not to remove mental ray, but to make fixes and updates to the engine happen more frequently. More along the lines of the update frequency seen from other engines that are decoupled from the install.

mental ray is now installed separate from Maya. Double check and make sure you explicitly installed the engine in addition to Maya, and not just Maya by itself.
