Maya 2013 Bug~

#1

I don’t know if this is a bug but in my version of Maya 2013, I set up a fluid 3D container, use real light, give it some gray shading, I create a directional light with raytracing shadow turned on to light the fluid, set the shadow method to segment in render setting, and then what I get is a plain fluid without any shadow on itself, if I switch to simple shadow method, it will have shadow on it, but I need to use segment method to create more realistic and soft shadow, so I find a way to fix that, which is to make sure you have some kind of geometry in your scene, then it fixed, if you only have fluid, the problem exist.
Is this a bug? and will that be fixed in newer version?
BTW, maya 2012 don’t have this problem.
