Maya 2011 help With Norman

#1

Hello Guys,

I am in an animation class at AAU. We are using a model called Norman.

I am really stuck with Norman. I am trying to create the shelves and the hot keys but keep getting errors while trying set it up to use.:wall:

I am on this step:
Add mlPickWalk.mel commands to a hotkey (follow the instructions from theIK/FK match if you need help on how to do this.). This one works a littledifferently. The commands that must be put into the hot keys are as follows:• mlPickWalk u• mlPickWalk d• mlPickWalk l• mlPickWalk r• mlCtrlPickWalk u• mlCtrlPickWalk d• mlCtrlPickWalk l• mlCtrlPickWalk rSet these hotkeys to overwrite your arrow key hotkeys as follows:• mlPickWalk u = Up arrow• mlPickWalk d = Down Arrow• mlPickWalk l = Left Arrow• mlPickWalk r = Right Arrow• mlCtrlPickWalk u = Up arrow + Ctrl• mlCtrlPickWalk d = Down arrow + Ctrl• mlCtrlPickWalk l= Left arrow + Ctrl• mlCtrlPickWalk r = Right arrow + Ctrl
When I follow these steps:
To add it to a hotkey, simply go to Window>Settings/Preferences>Hotkeys.Scroll to the bottom category named “User” and select it. Click on “new” andname it “ikfkMatch”. Type “mlAutoIKFK ;” into the command line (againremember, do not add the quotes to anything I have quoted.) Click on accept.Highlight ikfkMatch in the Commands column. Go to assign new hotkey, andselect a hotkey you would like to use. After you have finished click on“Assign.” Save and exit.
With the exception of changing the name. I get a couple different errors;
not a unique name or that name is already taken

any idea what I am doing wrong?
Maybe a better way to ask.
When I set this hotkey:
• mlPickWalk u
what should I name it?
then what do I put in the command line?

I am using Maya 2011 on a Macbook Pro.

Is there a way to bring in Norman with the shelves and hot keys already set?

thanks,

Dennis :bounce:
