Whats the best way to get the first descendant bitmap of material’s diffuse property?


Not sure I fully understand.
Do you want the map that is assigned to a material’s diffuse slot in 3ds Max?

That would be

myMat = $object.material
myMap = myMat.diffuseMap
– alternatively, you could use myMap = myMat.maps[2]
