#1

hello, I am Belzark, I just joined today
and I’ve been working for a matte painting for my college studies for weeks, but I still cannot get the lighting right, and it doesn’t felt right,

I am aiming for something that look like this

this is my current WIP

i really don’t know what can I do, and this is for my college assignment, can somebody please help? :’( thanks beforehand

It doesn’t look right because you don’t understand enough about lighting. There are very specific ways light and shadow behaves, and you need to learn the scientific reasons behind them, or else everything you do as an artist will appear awkward and lack credibility and authenticity.

Start here: http://www.itchy-animation.co.uk/light.htm

And go to the Art T&T subforum (linked below in my signature) and study the sticky threads–they will help you become a better artist.
