Nice blog… very very comprehensive.
Matte from the beginning
You should start a new project Richard
… though don’t forget, discuss ideas first prior to diving in so we can help you from the beginning
Best,
Dave.
Updated the blog with a basic push through video, many thanks Eyecon, Dave looking for a project at the moment. If you have any suggestions, will listen to ideas.

find the one where they’re both walking forward with the sticks.
import the quicktime into photoshop (CS3 and above) … and replace the background (behind the hill) taking care not to effect the area in which they’re walking, so you can play with the rest. oh you need to open the photoshop timeline too … pretty simple and a lot like AE.
Dave
Can I do a camera pull out? For example pulling back the camera to reveal more of the scene.
I will do a matte for behind the hill, just want to know if you would be happy for a camera move?
many thanks
Rich
NOOOOO camera mooooooooves!! haha
Just keep it simple, but yeh, feel free to extend up and to the right, but no post camera moves, just a basic clean invisible background replacement is good for now
oh and no exploding volcanoes, alien invasions or burning cities
… just simple and well executed.
Dave.
OK mate, no volcano check no alien invasions check,
no camera move check, no Leeds smouldering post nuclear explosion check.
I think I can squeeze a waterfall in there… ha ha only joking.
I am thinking of a commercial port area. with a chain link fence on top of the hill, looked at the film grain so will be really basic shapes to suggest the illusion of something in the distance.
No detail just basic shapes.
Many thanks
Rich
