Materials becomes greyscale

#1

Hi

Some materials are not working right when i start editing them. In this example, i have used the rock and grass material to a standard procedural terrain. And when i open the material editor and choose mixed so that i can get the option to choose how much grass and how much rock i want, the material nr 2 (and sometimes both) becomes grey in the preview window. And i thought, ok, i could live with that and just render the scene. But even in the Render it shows up grey. It just suddenly loose the texture and replace it with a normal greyscale material. Why is this?

I am new to Vue by the way and there might be some steps i have taken the wrong way. ?

My scene is:

  • Default Atmosphere (Physical)
  • Procedural Terrain
  • Rock And Grass - Material

I am following a tutorial from AsileFX. And i have noted that when He goes inside the ‘Material Editor’ the ‘Type’ is already set to ‘Mixed’. It is Not this way for me. It is set to ‘Simple’, and this greyscale bug happens only when i choose the ‘Mixed material’.

Help me please =)

Okey i took the rock and grass instead of the grass and rock material. But still i want to know why it becomes greyscale. Now when i have the grass and rock material it seems normal. It starts with mixed instead of simple. But if i choose volumetric and go back to mixed, it becomes grey again.

I’d be happy to take a look at the scene file and see what’s wrong.

are you using an ATI vid card by any chance?

I have tried different scenes like 8-9 times, with different materials, and it gives the same effect.

I’m using Nvidia GeForce 280 GTX
