Material emitting light ?

#1

Hi everybody,
I am surching for a way to emitt light with a material. I found somewhere the hint that I need to use “global radiosity” to do this. But in my simple test scene (ground plane, sphere with a glowing material apllied, global radiosity turned on) it never worked.

Where is that magic button I need to push ?

Thanks in advance

Ups, found it already. The Vue Handbook says that I first need to convert the object to an area light. Then, the materials already apllied will automatically become light gels. That’s it. The Handbook doesn’t say anything about which type of atmosphere I need to use so. I have to check this out…

You can choose any atmosphere type you want with area lights, though I’d recommend at least AO for nice results.
Glowing materials don’t emit light, even with radiosity on, but with a luminous factor applied , in the effects tab of the advanced mat editor, they will emit light when using radiosity, and only when using radiosity.
