Hey guys I need help. I am trying to learn Mari and the amount of resources available sucks. I am trying to texture a robot character, I have my base colors down on one channel, and I have a rust texture on another channel. I want to be able to paint the rust texture through using some grunge brushes I imported into mari. How do I do this? I have tried the mask shaders but it doesn’t seem to be working. Any tips or advice would be great. I really wish mari has a layers system like photoshop.

You need to set up a masked module in your shader - bear in mind though, that Mari is a little different to Photoshop in that it doesn’t create a mask for you; you need to create a new channel and load it into the mask drop-down in the mask module. You then paint into that channel as you would paint into a layer mask in Photoshop.
Mari does have an inherent layer system, it’s just named a little differently. Think of the channels as layers, and the shaders as your layers palette(s).
