mapping nHair > Hair Color ???

Hi,

Dropping a map into the nHair > Hair Color attribute gives unsatisfactory results. The colors are not contained within the area indicated in the UV Texture Editor. Example, a white stripe down the center of a scalp does not result in all hairs in that area being white. The colors are spread out MUCH farther than they should. Individual hairs within each clump receive colors apparently randomly.

My UVs are excellent, my texture is of sufficient resolution (2K) and I have not done anything weird to the hairSystemShape node. This appears to be an issue with the software, and the documentation is of no “help” whatsoever.

The only workaround I can find is to apply colors to each individual follicle separately. This is tedious and pointless. We should be able to paint nHair color just as we can with fur. Or am I missing something?
