Map video and keep wide ratio

Hello!
I need to map a (very large) video to a plane. The video is super wide and when i import it in to maya the texture editor squeezes the video to a square. How can i map the video on a wide plane without having to render the video in to a square which would increase the filesize, and without scaling/stretching uvs and keep full quality?

What am i missing?
