Where can I find a good tutorial on making textures in Photoshop for Maya?

Yep this is a really good one. I think it skips the uv process though,… are you familiar with that?

Type “Tiling texture Photoshop tutorial” in google.

Or buy ImageSynth or CS4…

Now if you were asking about a texture that has specific UVW mapping applied (If you are unfamiliar with that term then you need to really read up on it) - please see the other links provided by our friends above.
