MadCar (Plugin for Car Animation)

#121

thanks. its the distance the wheels are apart. in my case i have a wider axel at the back to push the larger rear tyres out further.

#122

AH, yeah soory I should have been a bit more specific. I know what the axles are  I just don’t know what they do in the mad car geometry controller.

#123

According to the Evermotion tut, you should link the brakes to them.

Didn’t try myself, though.

hello Karba and thnx for the great plugin u’ve done . I want to have this plugin for Max 8.0 . how can I use that for Max 8.0 ?

Regards
Mehraz

I don’t think it works for Max 8 - only 9 and upwards.

hi karba (and all) , I did a test with madcar , it’s realy fantastic and thx for sharing . I have a little problem in it . wheels not getting to spin ( but the dummy around wheel spins) . . .

best regards
Mehraz

Maybe you linked them to “axle” instead of “wheel”? (see image at the top of this page)

I might just be really tired, but what is the workflow steps to make this plug in work? I make a madcar rig object, all the parameters seem like they are put in a average configuration to start with…then I hit “use mouse” > onRunDriving…then a box comes up and says click to active. I hit that and then when I move the mouse, its shows the throttle and brake level going up and down like it should, but nothing moves…

Do I have to put in a car mesh and set all that up first, or can I just drive the rig around? AND how do you define the wheels as the wheels and the chassis as the chassis? In the motion panel, it lists all the car components, but there is only one box that says “none” and when i put in one component, It replaces the others I previously put in?!

update your surface > recalc > reset animation > click to activate > drive - this usually does it for me.

I had the same problem when I changed the framerate to 25. If EM3’s suggestion doesn’t do it, try this, it worked for me:

As for defining the objects, you must apply MadCar controllers to the tires and chassis. Try this tutorial:

Hey, thank for the great plugin. I’m really busy with a final uni project at the moment but will definitely give this a go when i’m done.

One question that I don’t think has been asked yet (read about 5 pages worth) is that does the driving controls work with/well with a tablet? or is it advised to get the keyboard/mouse out?

Cheers

Hey I made a two wheeled vehicle and attached a madcar to it or it to a madcar as the case is. It sort of works. Just need a script that will calculate rotation when the car is turning. Does anyone know if one exists?

Here is a very short animation. (It’s rendered out in the Unreal Engine)

cheers!

Hi
As i said before the plugin is greate !
1 question !
are you going to recompile the plugin for 3ds max 2009 ?
it would be greate if you do it !

#140

I use 3ds max 2008 still. I don’t have 2009 at this moment.
So It is complicated question for me.
