Hi
your machinima is great,i always wanna learn how to do racing scene, any tips?
thnx
MadCar (Plugin for Car Animation)
A couple of questions. I need to get a bus to drive in a straight line. That’s it. I imported it into another road scene, and I had to scale it up ALOT to match the proper scale. But I reset the Xforms.
I tried rigging it to MadCar, but it made the tires shrink back down to their original microscopic size. Anyone know why this is?
Also, I tried the demo scene that you can download, and when I tried to drive the Mustang around, nothing happened. I did the OnRunDriving, but it had no effect on anything. It showed the throttle was being pushed up, but the car remained motionless.
This plugin is very confusing.
PixelMagic, did you try setting the “recalc” settnig to 1? I had a similar problem which was resolved here:

I haven’t used this plugin in a long time, but like you I encountered several “weird” things where nothing happened, until I learned to work around it all, and then the plugin works allright. But hey, it’s free, and there’s only one guy working on it.
BTW, why do you need this plugin when you just want to drive in a straight line?

Yeah, the recalc is set to frame 1. I need this plugin to drive in a straight line, because I don’t know how else to make the wheels roll realistically. I’ve tried other rigs, but there is always a scale issue. The rig will be a different scale than my scene, and I cant scale the rigs. I cant change the scale of my scene, because there is a camera match, and I dont want to change things around.
How linear? If it’s entirely linear, you could do with a linear rotation of the wheels, and just adjust the curve until it fits.
But that might come off a bit too boring, with no feel of suspension or dampening?
It is possible to scale the MadCar rig, though. But you can’t use the scale tool, you should type in the proper length/radius values, etc. Did you try the Evermotion tut?

Well, I got the sample scene file to work. Updating the surface did the trick. As for rigging the bus, what’s it’s doing is shrinking the tires about 3000% once I attach them to the Madcar rig. Maybe I’ll save it out at the new scale, and reimport. However, I did reset the Xform, so I don’t get it.
Hi guys,
i know the thread is a little bit old, but
is there a recompile of the plugin for Max2010 64bit?
That would be awesome…
Any Info on that?
cheers
NAIK
I don’t think the recompile for 3ds max 2010 will be here any time now, i am still waiting for a recompile for 3ds max 2010 32-bit, i hope it will come one day.
Please Karba, i think you would make another bunch of users so happy if you made the recompile! Please man!
hey guys. i have installed the plugin and it works great but my transform or move gizmo is very smal. i cant see it right anymore. Any ideas or bugfixes?
Madcar is really incredible and very intuitive ! Congratulations !
I hope you have planned an update for 3dsmax 2010 !
today I’ve try this plugin, and wow its work well on my own 3d car, thanks very much Kalba… im very glad…fantastic.
This is the best car rig plugin I’ve ever used. Better than craft 4-wheeler.
You are the man, man
I’ve not read through all the post in this thread, so I’m sorry if this has already been addressed. Beautiful plugin by the way.
How could I use this plugin to simulate drifting, such as a rally car or like the film ‘fast and furious tokyo drift’. I have made a model of the old Corolla AE86 and wanted to make my own scene like the japanese anime show ‘Initial D’
