MAC-PC file sharing OSX 10.6.8 to Win7Home

Has anyone successfully enabled file sharing from OSX 10.6.8 machines with Windows 7 home 64-bit? I have done everything I can think of to make this work. My goal is to see the PC volumes on my Mac’s sharing/network folders so I can update render farm nodes with plugins, etc. I have VNC installed on all PC clients and can see from the Mac (using Chicken) that the PCs see each other and can share files on the ‘home group’ or whatever it’s called, but I cannot seem to get my Mac to see the PC volumes in the ‘Sharing’ section like I used to with WinXP. VNC does not allow me to copy files from the Mac to the VNC window, so I need network access. Otherwise, I’m stuck using a thumb drive to one machine and then using the network. Plus I have to be in the office to actually do that.

if you’re looking to share files from the Mac to Windows, the default sharing should work – but you can also try this:

https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/41541/smbup

That will give you more fine-grained control over shares and with the right configuation should make your Mac SAMBA shares show up in the Network browser in Explorer. Otherwise, you can log into the Windows machine with the connect to server dialog in the Finder and enter smb://IPaddressoftheserver
