LumaKey_8bpc/16bpc

I’ve used a Black n White image to Luma Key off some areas of my scene footage.
but i noticed some white lines artifacts starts to appear on my shot although my BnW matte looks clean.
Once i converted my proj 8bpc setting to 16 bpc, it disappears…
Why is this so ?
