Loss of quality. Why?

#1

Hey Guys & Gals,

I am texturing a Victorian/Georgian esque house for a game and im a little unsure why the quality of my UV is lower in Maya than it is in Photoshop.

For example i have taken this image…

and scaled it down and placed it in a room i have created…

Im a little stumped as to why the quality looks so bad.

Any suggestions?
Thanks
Liam

You’re only really previewing the texture in maya and should look fine once rendered.
If you want to see more detail you could always up the hardware texture resolution setting on the shader and turn on hardware render on your selected camera window too if you like… But this will slow down navigation. (I’m assuming that image is a screengrab)
Give it a quick render from an above view using mental ray production settings to see how it turns out when rendered…

Thanks again, I didn’t realize that would of been the case. I’ve rendered it out now and its looking good
