Looking for partner(s) for scholarship project

#1

Hi! I’m looking for a partner (or two) for a college scholarship project (sponsored by thinkquest) I’m doing with a friend of mine.

Let me introduce myself and my partner already first

I am 16 (turning 17 this october) and going to be a senior in highschool next year, and was recently attending Princess Anne High School, in Virginia, USA. My friend, Ajay (17) , is the top ranked junior from my school and he is also going to be a senior.

I talked to a few members from here, but they were too busy or found a job so they had no time anyway.

Onto the scholarship itself, what is it, what do you have to do?
Basically, the scholarship is to design a website on a certain science topic (Our topic is the String Theory). The website has to be indepth, contain multimedia, translation into other languages, etc… The website design (viewed here ) is being worked on by me, and the actual content is being written and prepared by Ajay.

The prize is:

Each winning team member (students and Primary Coach) will be eligible to attend ThinkQuest Live @ OracleWorld in San Francisco, California, USA where they meet face-to-face, present their work to thousands of conference attendees, participate in workshops and presentations, and meet some of the technology industry’s most influential leaders (read about the 2003 ThinkQuest Live at OracleWorld). This trip to San Francisco is valued at approximately $4,000 USD per winning team member before income tax gross-up.
I think the prize also applys if you are outside the US.

Partner Requirements
We are looking for a partner who has some experience in any 3D environment to create simple objects / scenes which involve the String Theory (When I mean simple, its really simple. Things like making a 3d atom model, maybe a few ‘strings’, etc.)

We are also looking for a partner who can do some flash work (Think about an interactive timeline).

*Preferable: If you are OUTSIDE the USA, this earns us more points since we are utilizing the web to find other students who are interested in working together, etc.
*Preferable: Can translate the website into other languages.

Now to the specific requirements set forth by thinkquest:

Each student must attend an accredited public, private or parochial school. Homeschooled students may participate so long as they are part of a team that is associated with an accredited public, private or parochial school (i.e., Primary Coach is an employee of an accredited public, private or parochial school and other team members are affiliated with an accredited school).

Each student must be between the ages of 9 and 19 as of the website submission deadline.

What is so great about winning this scholarship anyway?

[li]Last year, the guy who designed the multimedia got an offer for a project for $10,000. [/li][li]International Recognition (get into better schools?) [/li][li]Get to meet and be noticed by the techology and industry leaders of today (who knows, this could jumpstart your career?) [/li][li]Have Fun? [/li][/ul] I hope I get some enthusiastic partners from here!

If you have any questions, please feel free to reply or PM me and I will get to them asap. You can get me on AIM / MSN also:

Seems there isnt enough interest in this project :frowning:

Did I mention the work is super easy? For all the talent I’ve seen in CG Talk, this work would be childsplay for most of you guys here. The work is basically like designing a 3d atom model (something that looks 3d, but just like an atom):

Something that looks like the gravitational force of the earth … (something like that, its basically a grid that has a globe in the middle. This stuff is simple and for international recognition, it can’t be bad for your college application.

Hope this convinces some people to reply

Hi,

I’m very interested in this project. It seems like this pretty significant recognition for very little work. I am fluent in several languages and can probably help with the animation stuff. Unfortunately, I do live within the United States, so I don’t know if i’ll be of any help in the “foreign location” department, but if you need my assisstane, please respond back to this post, Shak. thanks a lot.

Sorry man, i am really looking for some people who are out of the country, that gives us 5 bonus points. I will let you know if we can’t find someone though.
