looking for a photoshop cs3 orintated tutorial

#1

Hi all,

I’m trying to find a tutorial, or collection of tutorials that i could use to help me create the look and feel of …
bleach season 6 opening: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8sWn860SFp0

on a still image, specifically to create a profile picture

all my attempts to searh for “film grain” or “vintage film” have left me with poor results, that fail to come close to the kind of image i want to create.

I’m not a pro but im not a n00b when it comes to photoshop cs3 but when it comes to knowing movie/film orientated terms i cant figure out the name of the effects being used.

thanks all

bye

Admittedly I am dial up speeds at the moment, so only looked at 1 frame of the you tube link you provided. So I could be well of the mark, if so, sorry in advance.

Anyway I think the term your looking for with regard to this is called a bleach by pass. This technique gives that over exposed, old film look.

As far as “film grain”, this is called noise in every graphics app. that I have ever used. I may be getting confused between apps here, but I do believe that PS offers 3 different types of noise, one of which should roughly match the film grain of your orginal shot with a little tweaking.
