lip sync facial animation how to proceed/improve?

#1

Hi Dudes and Dudettes!
For a school assginment I have to do a lip synch of about 10 seconds.
I am not much of an animator and I am plannign to head into a different direction so I am not very experienced with animating yet. I would appreciate if you could take a look at this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RXSs-hsIJ4&feature=youtu.be

and tell me,

  1. how to improve it in general
    and
  2. how to proceed now, because when I switch from stepped to interpolated animation curves the animation goes all over the place and looks very floaty. are there any good practices to add weight and more snappy ness to the animation?

Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks

Hi YashaP, thanks for the advice. I have already read the book, its very useful.
I was hoping for a bit more practical advice regarding my video since I need to finish it soon.
I am not planning to become a full time animator so I dont want to invest a lot of time into it it jsut needs to be okay.
Any suggestions?

Most of your lip sync happens too early so just shift it in the time line by a frame or two.
And then try and simplify the mouth shapes in the part where he says “you call your friends” because it gets a bit messy.

Good luck
