The whole undo thing is pretty much teh same as its been since v6, a couple lil additions like deleting autokey created keyframes when undoing a transform, but still no way of undoing say, a light parameter (or any value requestor field) change, box check, node connection, etc.
We’re somewhat hopeful that NT are working behind closed doors to rip out the UI and completely update it at some point, to allow for all this and more, but its a wait and see.
procedural modeling, nope.
Mac development… well… like many other packages (zb, maya) LW just isnt quite as good in its mac incarnation as its PC one, and ofc there’s the issue of plugins often not being available in mac compile. Id definately say though that the disparity between how solid the mac and pc versions are is less in LW than many other softs, largely due to the fact that mac development is a priority for the devs it would seem, and not some sideline. So aside from the occasional, and usually very minor issue, u probs wouldnt say the mac version is really lacking in any way over it counterpart.
If uve been away for a while, ull find that theres probs many areas where its moved on quite substantially, and there are still many things where u can just jump in LW and get things done better or faster than in other packages (just the same as the converse is and always has been true). Other areas of LW havent moved on so much, and are as some would say, still stuck in the 90s.
Perhaps itd help if you could list some of the things/tasks that ud like to have LW on hand for, in the hope of getting info on which such things are good, which aint, the ease or gotchas of getting some given data/files into/out of LW to other bits of a pipeline, adn so on.
