Lighting Challenge #21: The Bedroom

#81

Finished lighting and texturing
Still waiting for more comments if found to start with composition(color effect, gain, lens blur)
Thanks

@Ackee. Really liking the color palette of yours. And the render is smooth and artistic.
Well done. :arteest:

#83

I tweaked the HDRI dome and added 2nd light from outside. Much more clearer with skylight but now it´s almost like midday. But I like the dark shadows are not too murky anymore.

#84

I will try my best, the works i see are amazing. Great works!

#85

Hi All

Rendered in 6 minutes with a mental ray AO shader and lots of area lights to fake some bounce.

This is my first attempt at a challenge so be gentle… Any constructive comments gratefully received.

Cheers!

Try downloading the OBJ file and importing into Maya instead of opening the Maya scene. Should work just fine!

Also, for opening the Maya version, make sure you have “ignore versions” checked in the File Open [ ] options box.

If that fails, then I agree, import the .obj or .fbx, which were both exported out of Maya.

great “afraid of Dark” drmaya .really nice texturing. :buttrock:

Im a big fan of the movie Casablanca. my goal is to try to add a sense of its love story to the glorious morning (or sunset).

so far:
lights: sun, skylight, two portal lights(light blue), fill light (pink), 3 volume lights. also added occlusion pass in shake.

@ drmaya: Really dig it. Love seeing works that aren’t just a render of some random person’s room with no real story or idea behind them. There’s a distinct mood to your piece…that makes it much more interesting to me.

But for constructive crit…you might want to work on that spotlight cone casting your throw pattern and moonlight across the wall. I’d go into detail but I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.

Keep going…great work!

Thanks for setting up the challenge, Jeremy! Been reading through your book and it’s been incredibly informative, so thank you for it!

I’m still in the way beginning stages, but going for the winter mood. But I know it still needs so much work (overall a little brighter, softer shadows, finished textures, “cold” feel…), it’s just late here.
