Lead Technical Artist - Sierra Online

Sierra Online, Seattle Studio is looking for a Lead Technical Artist whose technical knowledge and artistic talent will ensure the success of our in-house artists and outsourcing partners. We are looking for an experienced candidate with a strong work ethic who is passionate about game art, tools, and asset pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Design and assist in developing tool/process solutions and asset pipelines for Artists and World Designers.
• Proactively seek out inefficiencies and problems in existing asset pipelines and develop intuitive solutions.
• Improve and enhance tools/processes throughout the project cycle.
• Compose through an in-house FX editor stunning special effects and visuals
• Assist programmers and designers in researching and developing new game features.
• Collaborates with the programming team in setting poly budgets, texture limits, LOD thresholds and other art production guidelines.
• Put new ideas/technologies/solutions into place and educate/train staff in tools and processes.
• Work with programming team to develop advanced material shaders.
• Assist in checking art content against technical guidelines prior to integration in the game.
• Understand advantages and limitations of our technology, and develop strategies for maximizing performance.

Requirements:
• Solid knowledge base and demonstrated ability in Discreet 3ds Max or equivalent 3D application.
• Able to work comfortably with MAXScript.
• Knowledge of advanced shader techniques.
• Strong knowledge-base of a custom and/or commercial effects editor
• Ability to develop content production pipelines and documents.
• Demonstrate initiative and strong problem-solving skills.
• 2+ years experience in the game industry or 4+ years in 3D computer graphics industry.
• Two or more shipped games.
• Previous experience in online games a plus.
• Willing to work on site in Issaquah, WA.
