EA Canada is seeking a talented lead modeler for our Burnaby studio. You should have a strong understanding of one of the mainstream 3D packages, such as Maya (preferred), XSI or 3DStudio Max and have a strong proficiency with Photoshop. Your demo reel should display a variety of environments and characters with shaded and wireframe meshes and snapshots of your textures. Please only include work that you feel is your strongest. A strong 2D portfolio is optional but encouraged.

A candidate should possess excellent communication and personable skills as well as abilities as a 3D artist. You need to be able to operate effectively in a team environment, take feedback and direction from team members and provide feedback when necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work from reference materials with high level of accuracy (to reference material)
  • Ability to model moderate to complex 3D characters and / or environments without specific reference
  • Ability to modify and create efficient and effective textures
  • Should possess 3 or more years experience working in a team environment as a 3D artist
  • Demonstrates ability to model moderate to complex and organic models in a timely basis.
  • Should be able to model characters to a good level of finish
  • Complete work while remaining faithful to Art Direction on project.
  • Work within the technical limitations and remain within budgets supplied
  • Assist in modeling workflows and protocols

Prerequisites:

  • Should have either a degree or at least 4 years professional production experience.
  • Is a leader/role model (within their craft) on a team level (does not necessarily mean “Lead Artist” or management role).
  • Demonstrated History of:
    -Actively supporting Art Direction
    -Remaining faithful to projects’ Art Direction.
    -A portfolio demonstrating the following is required:
    -Drawing skills
    -Excellent sense of form, weight (mass), and volume
    -Good use of light and shadow
    -Breadth of artistic styles
    -Excellent sense of scale
    -Excellent craftsmanship/level of finish
    -Excellent modeling and texturing skills

PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

All demo submissions are reviewed and must include the following:

  • Demo reels should only be submitted as DVD (QuickTime Movies preferred), or personal website. (No VHS)
  • A detailed summary/shot list of what your particular contributions were and which software you used.
  • Cover Letter
  • Resume (Hardcopy resume included with demo submission)
  • Demos no longer than 3 to 5 minutes in length.

For Online demos, please display a single web link at the top of your resume in bold.
