landscape video tutorial (modeling, texture, grass, render etc.)

#1

Hey there , i’ve made a free video tutorial for all you 3ds max noobs out there , just kidding, it’s pretty basic so the tutorial is about 23 min long so everybody can create this in less then half an hour. what you’ll learn:
[ul]
[li]basic modeling, paint deformation[/li][li]vertexpaint[/li][li]procedural materials[/li][li]hair and fur (for the grass)[/li][li]lighting and rendering[/li][li]photoshop post work[/li][/ul]this is my 2nd video tutorial, for the other one i’ve made i won a competition at 3dkingdom.org, it’s about polymodeling a mg42 game model, check the website to download it soon.

The finished results:
i know it’s pretty basic but i wanted to keep the filesize low so it couldn’t be too long, you could improve it yourself by increasing the size of the terrain, adjusting the grass to make it more realistic, add some stones/rocks and texture the signpost or add a matte/background in photoshop…

CLICK HERE to download the video (wmv , 19 mb )

if you enjoyed the tutorial please post a comment or show your result!

great tut.

for those of us who only have max 7 is there any way to make the grass using particles or array to follow the vert paint?

thanks for taking the time on the video !

hmm there’s a similar tut on www.3dtotal.com which uses normal geometry to achieve a similar result so you could take a look at that.
