Kink when using curveTube brush

I am generating a curve from the “curve functions” under the stroke palette, and then using the curveTube brush on it. The issue I am having is that when I click the curve to generate the geometry, I end up with a kink where the curve’s start point was. See the picture:

The issue happens whether I am generating curves by polyGroup, creases, or border edges. Hopefully someone knows how to fix this.
