Killing smoke with maya fluids

Hello guys,
I’m working on this project where i need to emit smoke from my object and i’m trying to kill the smoke after few seconds so that the object seems modelled in smoke, what i’m trying to achieve is also having the smoke move a bit and it’s not a problem i just can’t get it to keep emitting but dying after few seconds!
Any help at all?

increase the dissipation parameter in the density tab. this value takes away density per simulation step.
