Kick and Punch Animation

Hello,

Here is a new animation I am working on that I would like to add to my demo reel. There are still a few things I need to add to it to make it complete. Just wanted some fresh eyes to point out any problems that there may be. I’d appreciate any comments or critiques that you may have that can help me make this better.

P.S. - the right hand will be holding a knife on the next update[hopefully]. The fist couple of frames has the character flipping the knife in the air, which is why his arm moves that way.

Oh man, this is looking particularly buttery (smooth haha). Great execution brother. As far as taking it a bit further try to look at his spine separately from everything else. You’ll notice it is pretty upright most of the time, try to get some curvature in there for a much more dynamic animation (even w/ your current timing it will make a difference!). Also when he does his flurry w/ his hands after his first kick his torso looks like its just rotating in the y axis. I say try to work in the z and x a little. And last thing, his upper body pops when he throws his first kick, slow that down a frame or two and it should be golden.

Again, great execution technique.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the spine, and I am presently working on fixing the rotation to help sell the motion even more. And I didn’t see the pop before the first kick, thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks again for your critique, it will definitely help me take this sequence to another level. An update will be out this weekend, I hope you will be able to take another look at it.
